Terms of use
Draft. Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms apply when you use the Duel of Wits app or this website. By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
The app
Duel of Wits is free to play and shows ads. You can play alone, try the daily puzzle, or duel another player on the same puzzle. Some features need an internet connection. We may change, add or remove features, and an update may be required when an older version can no longer play with the server or other players.
Your player and account
Each install gets a player the first time it connects. You can link it to a Google or Apple account to use it on other devices. Without a linked account, uninstalling the app can lose your player. You're responsible for what happens on your devices and accounts.
Display names and conduct
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive players. Your display name is shown to other players, including strangers. It must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, violent, threatening or harassing, impersonate anyone, or contain personal information, advertising or links. Don't harass, threaten or abuse other players, cheat, use bots or tools that play for you, exploit bugs, or disrupt the service.
Filtering, blocking and reports
Display names pass a filter before anyone sees them. You can block a player so you're never paired or put in a room together again, and report a name you find objectionable. We review reports within 24 hours. When a name breaks these terms we remove it, and we may remove the player who chose it from the service, without notice.
Remove ads
Remove ads is a one-time purchase that permanently stops interstitial ads for the store account that bought it. It's sold by Apple or Google under their terms, including their refund policies. You can restore it on another device signed in to the same store account. Rewarded ads that you choose to watch for an extra life or hint stay available.
Using the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own entertainment. The app, its puzzles and its design belong to us. Don't copy, resell, reverse engineer or misuse it, except where the law allows.
App stores
If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, Apple has no obligation to support the app, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply.
No guarantees
We work to keep the app running and fair, but it's provided as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost progress or records. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract.
Ending
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your data from Settings. We may suspend or remove a player who breaks these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without taking away the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live.
